Newcastle 11, St Harmon 1.
Saturday 15th December 2007
Christmas came early for Newcastle when visitors St Harmon gave them the opportunity to score lots of goals. Newcastle scored the remarkable total of eleven goals whilst conceding only one. Prior to this match Newcastle had only scored 19 goals in 10games. Ben Harvey opened the scoring after 10 minutes but St Harmon drew level with a startling cross that deceived keeper Dave Exell and ricocheted in off the far post. This seemed to have an inspiring effect on Newcastle who responded with Mark Jones scoring three goals in almost as many minutes to give Newcastle a four one lead at half time. The second half continued in much the same vein when a route one ball from Dave Exell enabled Mark Jones to take his personal tally to four. Ben Harvey resumed the scoring spree to make it six, then moments later he was awarded a penalty when he was brought down in the area. Alas the St Harmon goalkeeper, who had a magnificent game, saved his spot kick. Carl Price then joined in the rout with a couple of goals to make it eight, then Ben Harvey completed his hat-trick and Jimmy Thomas joined in the fun to make it ten. The last goal gave Carl Price his hat-trick and rounded off a very satisfying afternoon for Newcastle fans. Man of the match was undoubtedly the St Harmon goalkeeper who pulled off some amazing saves.
Newcastle are at home to Penybont on Saturday 22 December, kick off 2.00pm.
